Software services: IaaS, PaaS, serverless or SaaS
Cloud services are services available via a remote cloud computing server rather than an on-site server. These scalable solutions are managed by a third party and provide users with access to computing services such as analytics or networking via the internet. Most Cloud Computing services fall into four broad categories. We talk about a “stack” of Cloud Computing because these categories are based on each other. Being able to know these solutions and their differences make the achivement of business goals easier.
Categorisation
-
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
It’s the basic category of cloud computing service. It delivers fundamental compute, network, and storage resources to consumers on-demand, over the internet, and on a pay-as-you-go basis.
-
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
It provides cloud components to certain software while being used mainly for applications. PaaS delivers a framework for developers that they can build upon and use to create customized applications.
-
Serverless computing
Differently from PaaS, it’s a method of providing backend services on an as-used basis. Servers are still used, but a company that gets backend services from a serverless vendor is charged based on usage, not a fixed amount of bandwidth or number of servers.
-
Software as a Service (SaaS)
It’s a way of delivering applications over the Internet—as a service, as our Giobby cloud ERP. Instead of installing and maintaining software, you simply access it via the Internet (by phone, tablet or PC), freeing yourself from complex software and hardware management.
